What are European Funds?

What energy efficiency renovation grants are funded by the NextGenerationEU Funds?

Current aid as of March 2022

PREE 5000 Programme

It is an energy efficiency and rehabilitation programme reduction in final energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the park of buildings in municipalities with demographic challenges. It encompasses actions ranging from changes to the thermal envelope, the replacement of thermal generation facilities and the improvement in lighting energy efficiency. It is intended for individuals or legal entities, community associations, owner associations, companies, and local authorities.

Public Building Rehabilitation Incentive ProgrammePIREP)

This Programme The scheme aims to promote the sustainable refurbishment of public and institutional buildings for all types of public use: administrative, educational, care, sports, healthcare, cultural or public service facilities, etc. The projects to be funded must reduce non-renewable primary energy consumption by at least 30%. The aim is to fund two categories of buildings:

  • Line 1. For buildings to be renovated whose works handover takes place no later than 30 September 2024
  • Line 2. For buildings to be renovated whose works acceptance takes place by 31 March 2026

  • Forty-five calendar days for the operations on line 1
  • Ninety calendar days for the works on line 2

PAREER-CRECE Programmes

This was the first call for applications under the grant scheme for the energy-efficient refurbishment of existing buildings. It remained in force until 2016. Under this grant scheme, a non-repayable sum of between 20% and 30% of the eligible costs was awarded, supplemented by a repayable loan at Euribor + 1%, with a maximum repayment term of 12 years and a 1-year grace period. It is worth noting that the grant amount per application was €120,000.
